MV Agusta Moto2 Race Bike Revealed

MV Agusta will launch its 2019 Moto2 campaign in collaboration with Forward Racing Team, and like all Moto2 machines from 2019, the bike will be powered by a 765 cc, in-line three-cylinder engine from Triumph. MV Agusta has now unveiled a latest race prototype for the 2019 Moto2 championship in almost full race livery, and the bike certainly looks very attractive. In all likelihood, this is the bike that will launch MV Agusta's Grand Prix campaign in 2019. Suspension is from Ohlins and the chassis is a tubular steel trellis frame mated to a CNC machined side plate and swingarm. The wheels are 17-inch forged magnesium rims from OZ Racing. The bike comes with a slipper clutch from FCC and an exhaust from SC-Project.

"I am really proud to see the dream to rejoin the Motorcycling World Championship come true. I would like to thank all our engineers, technicians and designers, plus the staff of the Forward Racing Team for having carried out this project in such a short amount of time. I want to express my gratitude to Giovanni Cuzari, as he believed in us and pushed us to do our best. Of course there is still a lot of work ahead of us, but step by step we will improve our competitiveness," said Giovanni Castiglioni, President, MV Agusta.

"It's a few years now that we are thinking about a return to the Motorcycling World Championship and with the modification of the regulations of the Moto2 category for 2019 it's the perfect opportunity to express our technical know-how, that we developed during the last six years in which we raced in Superbike and Supersport. The Moto2 project is an ambitious one and we are involving our R&D resources and all our racing experience in order to develop a completely new bike, which differs from all the others and which reflects the values of MV Agusta," said Brian Gillen, Project Leader.

MV Agusta has released the dimensions of the Moto2 bike as having a 24-degree rake, 104 mm trail, a 1382 mm wheelbase, and a dry weight of close to 215 kg, with the rider included, which is close to the Moto2 regulations limit. The MV Agusta Moto2 project was done in-house, in association with the company's technical partners. It will be interesting to see how the 2019 Moto2 class pans out, with a change in the single engine spec from Honda's 600 cc to Triumph's 765 cc triple in 2019.
