Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 And Continental GT 650: Price Expectation
The Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650 will be launched in 24 hours from now, and while we know almost everything about the two new motorcycles, prices still remain a mystery for the Indian market. The RE 650 Twins are by far the most important launch in the Chennai-based bike maker's history and will set the record for the company's domestic and global operations in the middleweight motorcycle segment. What really makes the Interceptor and CGT 650 special though, is the fact Royal Enfield has promised fun, easy-to-ride modern classic motorcycles at an affordable price point. So, what exactly is affordable then? Let's take a look at what we expect the prices should be on the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650.

Royal Enfield has promised that its all-new offerings will have an extremely competitive price tag. The bike maker is expected to break many records with the Interceptor 650 And Continental GT 650, which will undercut most of its competition. It is also likely to be the least expensive twin-cylinder motorcycle in the country. In order to break so many records, a highly competitive price tag will be in order. We expect prices for the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 to start around Rs. 2.5 lakh (ex-showroom), while prices for the Continental GT 650 are likely to start around Rs. 2.7 lakh (ex-showroom).

This, of course, will be prices for the standard versions, and there will be three variants on offer - Standard, Custom and Chrome. You can expect prices to escalate depending on the trim on both models, a strategy the company has followed for the US and European markets as well. That said, the prices could be introductory but is likely to capture the right kind of attention from the buyers, making it just Rs. 50,000 more expensive than the top-of-the-line RE Classic 500.
For the extra money, the 650 Twins certainly seem like a value-friendly proposition considering you get a completely new engine, better fit and finish, and a motorcycle that's a segment higher.

The RE 650 Twins have an aggressive pricing overseas as well. Prices for the US market were announced in September this year, with the Interceptor 650 starting at $5799 (approx. Rs. 4.2 lakh), while the Continental GT 650 starts at $5999 (approx. Rs. 4.36 lakh). Prices for the United Kingdom were revealed at the 2018 EICMA Motorcycle Show earlier this month with the Interceptor pegged at 5500 Pounds (approx. Rs. 5.25 lakh) and 5700 Pounds (approx. Rs. 5.44 lakh) for the CGT 650.
India, of course, gets the local market advantage that will help Royal Enfield price its new motorcycles aggressively. At the price point, the 650 Twins will be cheaper than the likes of the BMW G 310 R, Kawasaki Ninja 300, KTM 390 Duke, and more. The next most affordable 650 cc motorcycle is priced at Rs. 5.29 lakh (ex-showroom) for the Kawasaki Z650.

The RE 650 Twins look tempting with the 649 cc parallel-twin cylinder engine tuned for 47 bhp and 52 Nm of peak torque, while offering a slipper clutch, 6-speed gearbox, and dual-channel ABS as standard. The bikes will also compete against Triumph's modern classic range, given their retro appeal. For a market hungry for classic motorcycles, the Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650 make a lot of sense and pricing will improve its appeal vastly.
