Two-Wheeler Sales September 2019: Bajaj Sees Massive 35 Per Cent Drop In Domestic Motorcycle Sales

The auto industry is still not showing any signs of revival amidst the current slowdown. This time it is Bajaj Auto which has seen a significant drop of 35 per cent in its domestic motorcycle sales for the month of September 2019. The company sold 177,348 units last month as compared to 273,029 units sold in September 2018. Motorcycle exports on the other hand, showed a growth of a measly 1 per cent with 159,382 units sold in September 2019 as compared to 157,910 units sold in September last year. But the total motorcycle sales fell by 22 per cent with the company selling 336,730 units in last month in comparison to 430,939 units sold in September 2018. As far as commercial vehicles are concerned, Bajaj Auto sold 38,153 units in September 2019 which is 1 per cent less than 38,474 units sold in September last year. BMW Motorrad Team India Chosen For International GS Trophy 2020

Three BMW GS riders from India - Rickiey Naik from Bengaluru, Shakeel Basha from Coimbatore and V Sathyanath from Tirupur have been selected after a two-day GS Trophy India qualifier event held in Goa to represent India. More than 75 BMW GS motorcycle owners from across India participated at the BMW GS Trophy Qualifier in India. The participants had to go through a gruelling first day of a series of exercises based on which the top 20 riders were selected and shortlisted to compete for the coveted three-member team. The riders had to battle out at various stages like hard-core adventure riding which also included teamwork challenges. They were then put through special test to prove their riding capability, techniques, navigation skills, fitness, mental alertness and navigation skills. Benelli is all set to launch the I mperiale 400 retro-classic motorcycle in India on October 21, 2019. The company has announced that it will start accepting pre-bookings for the Imperiale 400 today onwards, for a token amount for Rs. 4,000. BMW Motorrad India has launched the R 1250 R and the R 1250 RT in India. The BMW R 1250 R is priced at Rs. 15.95 lakh while the BMW R 1250 RT is priced at Rs. 22.5 lakh. Latest rumours coming out of Italy suggest that Kawasaki Heavy Industries may be close to finalising a deal to buy out Italian motorcycle brand Bimota. The reports go on to say that the sale has already taken place and there will be a press announcement on the news in the coming days. So far, there is no confirmed news about Bimota's sale yet, and the actual amount of the deal, if it has actually taken place. OTO's OMI (Ownership Monthly Installment) plan is aimed to make owning a vehicle easier with flexible financing options that will be available directly at showrooms. OTO Capital is offering both leasing and long-term ownership options for customers with the OMIs said to be 30 per cent cheaper than EMIs (Easy Monthly Installments) from a bank for the same period. GST Council Meeting: No Reduction In GST For The Auto Industry

The automotive industry had already raised red flags on the sales hitting an all time low in the country and this at a time when the BS6 transition was just around the corner. The industry knew, that it would face a lot of problems with BS4 inventory and hence had recommended to the Finance Ministry as also the GST Council to reduce the GST rates on cars from 28 per cent to 18 per cent. The Ducati Multistrada has reached the 100,000 sales milestone, sixteen years after the first Ducati Multistrada rolled off the assembly line at Borgo Panigale. Hero Cycles Joins Hands With Yamaha To Launch Lectro Electric Bike

India's leading bicycle manufacturer Hero Cycles has partnered with Japan's Yamaha Motor Company to launch the Lectro EHX20 e-bike. The EHX20 is a premium electric bike for leisure and off-road use, and has been priced at Rs. 1.35 lakh. The Lectra EHX20 is the first product of a three-way strategic partnership initiated last year between Hero Cycles Limited, Yamaha Motor Company Limited and Mitsui & Co. Ltd. The electric motor has been designed and developed in Japan, and the e-bike has been manufactured in India at Hero Cycles' Ghaziabad plant. Chennai-based electric two-wheeler start-up Blacksmith Electric has unveiled a new electric scooter prototype, called the B3 after two electric motorcycle prototypes unveiled by the company. The Blacksmith B3 boasts of some unique features, including customisable speed limits, limited to 60 kmph, 80 kmph, 100 kmph and 120 kmph.
