Bharat Stage 6 (BS6) is all set to be implemented from April 1, 2020. This means that only those vehicles can be sold and registered, which are BS6 compliant, across the country. Many four-wheeler manufacturers have already started selling BS6 models but two-wheeler manufacturers are yet to play catch-up. Making a two-wheeler BS6 compliant means re-working the engine components, exhaust setup and this in turn results in significant increase in costs as well. TVS Motor Company has announced the launch of the Bharat Stage VI (BS6) compliant TVS Jupiter 110 cc scooter in India. Equipped with ET-Fi (Ecothrust Fuel injection) technology, the TVS Jupiter Classic ET-Fi is the first in the Jupiter portfolio to become BS6 compliant and it has been launched at Rs. 67,911 (ex-showroom Delhi). Ducati Panigale V4 Superleggera To Be Launched

Ducati will be launching a lighter and more expensive production version of the Ducati Panigale V4, in the form of the Ducati Panigale V4 Superleggera, possibly by mid-2020. But the new V4 Superleggera will actually be based on the V4R, using the same 998 cc, V4 engine, instead of the 1,103 cc engine of the Panigale V4, but with slightly more performance. According to European type-approval documents quoted in a media report, the new Panigale V4 Superleggera will put out 221 bhp at 15,250 rpm, a 3.6 bhp increase in maximum power over the V4R. KTM India plans to arrive all guns blazing in the sixth edition of the India Bike Week as an official partner, and we hear that the manufacturer has some very exciting details to convey at one of the largest motorcycle congregations in Asia. While we know that the Austrian bike maker will showcase the KTM 390 Adventure at the 2019 India Bike Week, the manufacturer could also introduce the Husqvarna brand at the venue. Dealer sources have confirmed to carandbike that the Swedish motorcycle brand will make its debut in India at the event, while deliveries are expected to commence in the first quarter of 2020. The Husqvarna brand was acquired by KTM in 2013 and share the same underpinnings as the Duke and RC family. Hero MotoSports Team Rally, the motorsports team of Hero MotoCorp, has announced the squad for the Dakar Rally 2020. India's ace rider CS Santosh, will be part of the team, along with 2019 Pan Africa Rally winner Joaquim Rodrigues, Dakar Rookie of the Year 2017 Oriol Mena, and the newest addition, Former World Rally Champion Paulo Goncalves. This is the first time Hero MotoSports Team Rally will take on the Dakar Rally with a four-member squad. Double-Digit Growth For Royal Enfield Possible: CEO

Royal Enfield 's new CEO Vinod Dasari has said that the worse of the current slowdown in the auto industry is over, and he expects sales volumes of Royal Enfield motorcycles to accelerate from now on, possibly in double digits. The Royal Enfield CEO was speaking to the Economic Times in an interview, and the record retail sales in October 2019 has given him the confidence to look ahead with optimism. The turnaround in October came after sales declined in double digits this year. In July this year, Royal Enfield's monthly sales fell below 50,000 for the first time in three years, with 49,182 units, a massive drop of 27 per cent over sales in July 2018. In August too, sales of Royal Enfield again fell 24 per cent. Royal Enfield may be considering pulling the plug on the company's 500 cc motorcycle models, according to a latest news report. The reason for this decision is attributed to the high cost of updating the motorcycles to the upcoming Bharat Stage VI (BS6) emission regulations. As things stand today, Royal Enfield has three broad range of motorcycle models - the high volumes 350 cc models, the 400 cc Royal Enfield Himalayan, the 500 cc models across the Classic, Bullet and Thunderbird models, as well as the new 650 cc Twins - the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650, and the Royal Enfield Continental GT 650. Supercharged Norton Superlight SS Unveiled

British motorcycle brand Norton Motorcycles has announced a new model in the company's sportbike line-up. The Norton Superlight SS is a supercharged and full-carbon version of the company's 650 cc twin-cylinder platform. The Superlight SS features a carbon fibre frame, subframe and swingarm. With a claimed 175 bhp power and just 160 kg kerb weight, the Superlight SS promises to be a performance-packed sportbike, although the basic architecture is the same 650 cc unit of the standard Superlight, Norton has borrowed the same gearbox and running gear as the Norton V4, so that the SS can cope with the extra power of the supercharger. The supercharged 650 cc engine puts out 175 bhp of maximum power at 12,500 rpm and with 125 Nm of peak torque, with a 47 per cent less weight than the aluminium-framed Superlight, which puts out 105 bhp. Royal Enfield Could Stop Selling Its 500 cc Bikes In India

A LiveMint report suggests that Royal Enfield may stop selling its 500 cc bikes in India namely the Bullet 500 , Classic 500 and the Thunderbird 500 . The reason behind this could be the low sales and the high cost of upgrading these bikes to BS6 standards. Upgrading such a range to BS6 may not exactly be viable for the company. Instead, Royal Enfield will be focussing on its new and updated range of 350 cc motorcycles in India. These models have already been spotted testing in India and the powertrain they will be using has been extensively revamped. Classic Legends, a subsidiary of Mahindra & Mahindra, has launched the Jawa Perak bobber in India priced at Rs. 1.94 lakh (ex-showroom, India). The all-new Jawa Perak is the country's most affordable Bobber-styled motorcycle and comes to the market exactly a year after it was first showcased at the Jawa brand launch in 2018. The new factory-produced Bobber is about Rs. 5000 more expensive than the original pricing of Rs. 1.89 lakh (ex-showroom), and is the only-of-its-kind offering at that price.
