Husqvarna 901 Svartpilen Spotted On Test

An advanced prototype of the upcoming Husqvarna 901 Svartpilen has been spotted on test in Spain, and pictures as well as a short video of the upcoming bike has been posted by RideApart. The 901 Svartpilen though is only likely to be released as a 2021 model, and will not likely be unveiled in production form at the EICMA motorcycle show in Milan, Italy. At best, we may get to see the upcoming 901 Svartpilen in concept form in Milan. The new Husky seems to be using the same parallel-twin engine from the KTM 790 Duke, but it's still not clear if the engine is the existing motor from the 790 Duke, or the rumoured 890 cc mill KTM is currently working on.

The new bike has some visible changes from the current 701 Svartpilen. The changes are in the spoked wheels, twin pipes, and high-level exhaust, which do indicate that this may be an all-new model after all, and not just an update. What remains to be seen is if the 901 Svartpilen (if at all, it will be called that), will get the new, rumoured 890 cc parallel-twin that is set to debut on the middleweight KTM Duke. But there is more than just one test mule which was spotted in Spain.

A second test mule of what seems like an adventure touring model, rather than an out and out road bike, was also clicked while on test. There's also an engine bash plate on the underbelly, a high and wide handlebar, complete with handguards, as well as luggage racks on the test mule. All these certainly point to the fact that the test mule will probably be an adventure tourer. In India, the launch of KTM's sister brand Husqvarna has already been delayed. Even if Husqvarna is launched, possibly by the first half of 2020, the first models to be launched in India will likely be the 401 models, based on the KTM 390 Duke.

Zongshen Cyclone RX6 Based On Norton 650 Nearing Completion

While there still doesn't seem to be a buyer for iconic British brand Norton Motorcycles which went into administration in January this year, the firm's 650 cc parallel-twin seems to be finding life in China. While Norton apparently sold off the engine rights of its 961 engine to China's Jinglang just before the brand went into administration, the deal for the 650 cc engine was finalized way back in 2017 with Chinese giant Zongshen. The 650 cc parallel-twin engine was due to be used in Norton's Atlas and Superlight models, but now it looks like that engine platform will make its debut in a Zongshen motorcycle, called the Cyclone R6. Brixton 1200 To Rival Triumph Bonneville T120

A 1200 cc modern classic with similar design lines as Triumph's iconic Bonneville series, has reportedly been cleared for production. The bike was showcased as a concept at last year's EICMA motorcycle show, and from the looks of it, this is a model developed in China with the Triumph Bonneville T120 in its sights. The Brixton brand though is part of Austria's KSR Group, which imports bikes from several Chinese manufacturers, including CF Moto. And while the new Bonneville rival will be manufactured in China, the design and engineering has been created at KSR's design centre in Krups, Austria.
