Harley-Davidson Forty Eighty Special And Street Glide Special Launch Date Revealed
Harley-Davidson will introduce two new motorcycles, the Harley-Davidson Forty-Eight Special, and the Harley-Davidson Street Glide Special, in India. These two motorcycles will be launched on March 14. Both these motorcycles were globally unveiled last year as part of the American motorcycle maker's plan to unveil 100 new models in the next five years. The Forty-Eight Special gets a slightly larger 1200 cc Evolution engine and will replace the existing Harley-Davidson Forty-Eight. Along with the bigger engine, the Forty-Eight Special will also get new graphics inspired by the 1970s custom motorcycle styling and design. The 2019 Harley-Davidson Street Glide Special also gets a larger engine, and touchscreen infotainment system and will replace the existing H-D Street Glide Special in India.

The 2018 Harley-Davidson Forty-Eight Special has the same beefy front end as the regular Forty-Eight, with a 130 mm front tyre, 49 mm forks and large forged aluminium triple clamps. What differentiates the Forty-Eight Special is the abundant use of chrome as well as the Tallboy handlebars, which change the ergonomics and seating position. The fuel tank capacity on the Forty-Eight Special is 8.2 litres, and wheels are 16-inchers at both ends shod in Michelin Scorcher tyres. The 1,202 cc Harley-Davidson Evolution engine produces a peak torque of 98.9 Nm. The H-D Forty-Eight Special is expected to be priced at around Rs. 11-11.5 lakh (ex-showroom).
The 2019 Harley-Davidson Street Glide Special will replace the current H-D Street Glide Special and gets a larger v-twin engine. It will be powered by the 1,868 cc Milwaukee-Eight 114 V-twin engine which develops 165 Nm at 3,000 rpm and is mated to a six-speed gearbox. The current 2018 H-D Street Glide Special has a slightly smaller engine - the Milwaukee-Eight 107 engine which displaces 1745 cc. The 2019 Street Glide Special will get a 6.5-inch Boom Box GTS touchscreen infotainment system that has pinch, drag and swipe functionality which enables you to quickly navigate through the weather, communications, and music options. Moreover, the instrument panel, engine cover, exhaust pipes and the front suspension forks are covered in black, while the 2.5 cubic-feet panniers are finished in body colour. The 2019 Street Glide Special is a heavy duty bagger and tips the scales with nearly 380 kg kerb weight. The 2019 Harley-Davidson Street Glide Special will be brought to India as completely built units (CBU) and pricing is expected to be around Rs. 31-32 lakh (ex-showroom).
