Honda Activa 125 BS-VI: What's New?
Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) has unveiled the company's first two-wheeler which is compliant with the Bharat Stage VI emission regulations which come into force from April 2020. The new Honda Activa 125 BS-VI, has a revised 125 cc engine which is now fuel-injected and has lighter internal components, as well as several new features to give it fresh appeal. Honda has just unveiled the new Activa 125 BS-VI for now. The scooter will go on sale sometime in September 2019, and according to Honda officials, the updated model offers 10 per cent more fuel efficiency, but will be marginally more expensive as well. Here's a look at what all has changed on the new Honda Activa 125 BS-VI.
- The 125 cc fuel-injected engine has been revised substantially with lighter internal components and is now fuel-injected to meet the latest BS-VI emission regulations. Honda has yet to reveal the technical specifications of the engine, but has revealed some changes.
- Honda says the 125 cc engine, along with HET (Honda Eco Technology), now gets what is called "enhances smart power", or ESP, which includes a new noiseless ACG (alternate current generator) starter, programmed fuel injection and lighter internal components which reduce friction, making the engine smoother and more refined.
- On the design front, the overall silhouette of the new Activa 125 remains the same, but there are some changes which will clearly differentiate the BS-VI Activa 125 from the current generation Activa 125. There are chrome strips on the front apron and side panels, as well as a LED headlight and position lamp, and a redesigned tail-lamp.
- The multi-function ignition switch now has remote release for the fuel lid, which has now been placed externally, as well as a remote seat hatch opening operation.
- The instrument panel is all new, with a part-analogue, part-digital design which now displays the odometer, speedometer, trip meter, a clock, fuel gauge, real-time fuel consumption figures, average fuel efficiency and even distance to empty readings.
- The instrument panel also has a handy side-stand indicator on the tell-tale lights, which also acts as an engine inhibitor, and will not allow the engine to start if the side stand is down.
- The Honda Activa 125 BS-VI will go on sale sometime in September 2019, when it will be officially launched. Expect the new Honda Activa 125 BS-VI to be priced at around Rs. 67,000-68,000 (ex-showroom Delhi).
