Norton Dominator Street Limited Edition Unveiled

Norton Motorcycles has revealed a new limited edition model, called the Norton Dominator Street. The Dominator Street follows the Norton Commando Street which was launched in October 2018. The British motorcycle manufacturer has announced just 50 units of the Dominator Street, and each bike will be priced at GBP 21,950 (just over Rs. 19 lakh under current exchange rates). Deliveries of the new Norton Dominator Street are expected to begin from September 2019. Each limited edition model will come with its unique production number to mark its authenticity.

The Norton Dominator Street features a hand-made fuel tank and upright handlebars, rather than the standard Norton Dominator's clip-ons. The engine is shared with the Norton Dominator, which is a 961 cc, air-cooled, parallel-twin motor with dry sump lubrication. The 270-degree firing order parallel-twin puts out 79 bhp of power at 6,500 rpm and 90 Nm of peak torque at 5,200 rpm, and the gearbox is the same five-speed unit.

The Norton Dominator Street uses the standard Dominator chassis alongwith an Ohlins rear shock, with the option of either adjustable USD or conventional Ohlins forks. Along with a hand-made, two-into-one exhaust, the new Dominator Street features a carbon hugger, air box, front mudguard, fly screen, with polished yokes. The 961 cc, parallel-twin will provide an amplified soundtrack from the hand-made exhaust, which will not need to meet Euro emissions regulations, because it is being sold using Single Vehicle Approval homologation, available in the UK market only. The Norton Dominator Street looks old-school cool, and the 50 units on offer are likely to be lapped up by discerning buyers.

Zongshen Cyclone RX6 Based On Norton 650 Nearing Completion

While there still doesn't seem to be a buyer for iconic British brand Norton Motorcycles which went into administration in January this year, the firm's 650 cc parallel-twin seems to be finding life in China. While Norton apparently sold off the engine rights of its 961 engine to China's Jinglang just before the brand went into administration, the deal for the 650 cc engine was finalized way back in 2017 with Chinese giant Zongshen. The 650 cc parallel-twin engine was due to be used in Norton's Atlas and Superlight models, but now it looks like that engine platform will make its debut in a Zongshen motorcycle, called the Cyclone R6. Brixton 1200 To Rival Triumph Bonneville T120

A 1200 cc modern classic with similar design lines as Triumph's iconic Bonneville series, has reportedly been cleared for production. The bike was showcased as a concept at last year's EICMA motorcycle show, and from the looks of it, this is a model developed in China with the Triumph Bonneville T120 in its sights. The Brixton brand though is part of Austria's KSR Group, which imports bikes from several Chinese manufacturers, including CF Moto. And while the new Bonneville rival will be manufactured in China, the design and engineering has been created at KSR's design centre in Krups, Austria.
