Indian Motorcycle has issued a recall for certain Indian Scout and Indian Scout Bobber motorcycles in the US over an issue with the braking system. The American motorcycle brand is recalling as many as 2,742 motorcycles, and this is the third time a recall has been issued over what is seen as the same manufacturing issue with the braking system. The recall is over a manufacturing issue that allows air to get into the ABS components of the affected bikes, which may result in "possible reduction in brake performance, increasing the risk of a crash," the recall states. Triumph Motorcycles India has launched the 2020 Triumph Street Triple R in the country. The new naked middleweight motorcycle is priced at Rs. 8.84 Lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) and it is positioned below the top-spec Triumph Street Triple RS , which is priced at Rs. 11.33 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The company has already begun taking bookings for the Street Triple R at its showrooms for a token amount of Rs. 1 lakh. The Street Triple R replaces the Street Triple S, which was the base model, offered in India earlier. It is no secret that KTM is testing/developing an updated RC 390 and now spy shots of a test mule have surfaced on the internet. The new and updated RC 390 is likely to be revealed before the end of 2020 and we expect the new model to come to India sometime in the middle of next year. From the spy shots, it is certain that the RC 390 gets significant design updates which include a new headlight, a new front fairing and the LED daytime running lights placed at the edges of the fairing. The windscreen itself is bigger and should provide better protection at high speeds. Latest patent images filed by BMW Motorrad reveal the German brand's next-generation frame that does away with a conventional swingarm pivot, and uses flexible carbon fibre instead. Latest patent images show that the swingarm will be integrated into the main chassis, getting rid of a swingarm pivot. The idea is that carbon fibre can be engineered to be rigid in one direction and flexible in another, so the design will allow the swingarm to bend to absorb bumps, but will not allow any lateral movement that may affect stability. A conventional spring and damper will still be used, allowing for suspension adjustability. Ducati Global Sales Down 24 Per Cent In First Half Of 2020

Ducati Motor Holding has reported a 24.2 per cent sales drop in the first six months of 2020, and for the second quarter of the year (April-June, 2020), Ducati sales were down 24.6 per cent. And the numbers point to a similar trend as displayed by other players in the industry. KTM's parent company Pierer Mobility has reported a sales decline of 33 per cent, Piaggio sales is down by 24.5 per cent, Harley-Davidson is down 27 per cent, and Indian Motorcycle is down by 24.5 per cent. So, Ducati's sales report isn't entirely unexpected, and is actually in line with other major brands, if not worse. BMW Motorrad recently took the wraps off the BMW R 18 Dragster, which was created by the renowned custom motorcycle designer, Roland Sands. The one-off BMW R 18 Dragster is a stripped down, tricked out version of the R 18 cruiser, which is meant to go fast on a drag strip. Sands says that the inspiration came from old muscle cars and the fact that his father used to be a drag racer back in the day. The design was first sketched on paper and then brought to life by Sands and his team. The whole process took about three and a half months after which the motorcycle was taken to a drag strip. A new Husqvarna Svartpilen motorcycle has been spied testing in Pune. Looking at the spy shots, we suspect it is the Svartpilen 200, based on the KTM 200 Duke . It gets the same styling bits as the Svartpilen 250 such as the flat, wide handlebar, dual-sport tyres wrapped on alloy wheels. While the Husqvarna 250 twins straddle the middle ground, introducing the 200 could help the company tap into a wider base, with a more affordable model. Biking enthusiasts, who are still looking to buy Indian FTR 1200 models, can do so. Indian has few (only in double digits) units left which are BS4 and have been pre-registered in the name of the company. All these motorcycles are 2019 BS4 models and were registered before the BS6 emission norms came into force on April 1, 2020.
